Door frame widened and hung door.

The door frame is not wide enough to fit the oak veneer door by 40mm and you can only trim the door by 12mm. So we decided to widen the door frame. Once done the frame was fitted back with only a small amount of trimming to do to the door. With dressing and frame completed. Nice door.

Base cabinet fitted in kitchen.

The customer wanted to use the space available by having a base cabinet fitted with access to the existing corner cabinet already in place.

I suggested a 400 mm cabinet with door to match. I will cut the side panel to access through to the existing cabinet.

Once fitted and screwed in place a shelf was added and the surrounding trims fixed in place to cover the gaps.

The customer wants to paint the cabinet and trim, nice and tidying with minimal cost. Cabinet £45 from Howdens and £65 to fit.

Tiling job.

A bit of a tricky one. Certainly had to make sure the lines where straight as would look a mess, especially as this is a feature wall. Small tiles make it even harder.

Entrance made through from Kitchen to garage

The customer wants an entrance made through wall into garage. The door, which is supplied measures 760mm wide. So need to cut width to include door frame. Also the floor in the garage is a different level to the floor in the kitchen so this has to be taken into account when cutting the height to include lintel as well.

Plastering ceiling

The customer does not like the textured ceilings in his house in Ingleby Barwick.

Handyman Services

That’s not a problem. Having scraped of any extreme high points I applied a PVA coat. Right, let’s get a mix on and start plastering.

Handyman Services

There, just one more smoothing over before the plaster dries.

That looks better.

Lintel replaced over garage door

The old wooden lintel over the garage door has rotten away leaving the brick work over to sag and bow. It’s in quite a dangerous state.

Ashtons Handyman Services

First thing to do is hire an acrow bar, from Andy Hire, and get that brick work back to it’s level position & supported.

Ashtons Handyman Services

Having cleared out the old rotten lintel, I took the measurements for new concrete & wooden lintels, the wooden to sit behind the concrete one under the second course of bricks and over the garage door frame. I used wood so that I can screw the door frame back under to straighten.

Both lintels had to cut down to size.

Time to fit the lintels into place, I use slate to pack under, at the ends, and above to the brick work so I can get cement into the gap. It meant lifting the bricks further, so cranked up the acrow.

All looking good. Time to remove the acrow and get cement in. I use a method to get the cement into the space’s by using a builders bag and a sloppy mix, a bit like funneling icing onto a cake.

All good. Time to clear up and the brush off the drying cement.Ashtons Handyman ServicesAshtons Handyman Services

Looking good, certainly level & without the bow.
